Who Am I? I
am Paul Hahn, LMFT, a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice
in
Lawrence Kansas, the place I have called “home” since 1982. I am a father, a
What Am I? I am a Marriage and
Family Therapist (MFT), licensed by the State of Kansas. I am an
associate member
of the American
Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and hold membership in a
number of honor societies. MFTs are distinct from other
mental
health disciplines in that our training places an emphasis on
relationships and the way that relationships effect our emotional and
mental health.
What Do I Do? I
am competent to work with individuals, families, couples or
groups. My practice has mostly emphasized working with
recovery
groups, couples seeking to improve their marriages and individuals
seeking healing from life’s difficulties. I work
with
couples in distress and couples dealing with infidelity issues, and am
certified in PREPARE/ENRICH® to conduct
marital and
premarital assessments. I have extensive experience working
with
individuals and couples who are struggling with pornography and sexual
addictions.
How Might I Help You? ● A relationship
“check-up”.
● Premarital assessments
(a nice gift for an engaged couple!).
● Help with infidelity or
sexual integrity.
● Help with compulsive behaviors, such as computer gaming or sex addictions. ● Resolving trauma and
self-esteem issues.
● Church programs on
sexuality, marriage or intimacy.
● Individual therapy for personal struggles. ● Couples therapy for married, courting or engaged couples. ● Public speaking for groups or churches. Topics for teens, for adults, for marriage enrichment, sexual issues, and other topics. ● For matters that go beyond lay or pastoral counseling. ● For help with personal and private matters. ● To help you prepare your heart for the future, heal your wounds from the past and strengthen your bonds in the present. Why Do I Do It? What Do I Believe? I
believe in God and I believe in His son, Jesus. I believe
that
God is a triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit –
and
that He is therefore a “relational” God.
I believe
that we are all made in His image (Genesis 1:26), and are also
“relational” beings. I believe we
discover our true
purpose, and we experience the most profound joys (and the most
profound pain) of our lives in relationships. I believe that
if
we value being spiritually healthy, it is important that we work to
have healthy, love-bonded relationships (Galatians 5:14). I
believe that to be relationally healthy is paramount to spiritual
growth and healing (Ecclesiastes 4:11).
“My
purpose is that they may be encouraged
in heart and united in love.” (Colossians 2:2) |
